OUR STORY
Our founder, Albert Yarmeto, was born in Liberia. His early life was shaped by the devastation of an escalating civil war. His family fled seeking refuge in Ivory Coast.
As a young child in a refugee camp, he faced food scarcity, a lack of education, and the trauma of displacement. It caused him to cultivate resilience, compassion, and a commitment to justice.
In early 2000s, after years of hardship, his family resettled in the United States rebuilding their jumbled lives. Albert graduated from Armstrong High School where he excelled in wrestling with 4 State entrances, 3 All-Conference Championships ending with a scholarship to St. Cloud University.
He obtained his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Minneapolis Community College and a B.A. from Metro State University. Though his family found new opportunities in America, the memory of past suffering knowing many still faced similar struggles remained close to Albert’s heart. He felt called to give back to those still struggling for hope and help.
In 2021, Albert made a life-changing visit to Liberia, encountering children living in poverty, many facing the same struggles he had endured. Yet these children displayed resilience and strength. They reminded him of his own youthful spirit, sparking a desire to make a difference. This visit led to the creation of Yarmeto’s Helping Hand Foundation.
The foundation’s mission is to support children in need providing essential resources such as education, shelter, clothing, food, and life skills.
Mr. Yarmeto believes in the power of faith and the teachings of Matthew 6:33, which emphasize the importance of seeking God's kingdom and righteousness in all that we do.
Albert Yarmeto is also a loving husband and father of two. He is also engaged to a wonderful woman, Lakeitha Ward, who shares his vision and supports him in his mission to make a difference.
